Ex-Wayne Wolverines star Connor Walsh, currently the #1 starting pitcher for the University of Cincinnati, was drafted in the 12th round of the Major League Baseball 2014 draft by the Chicago White Sox.

The 6-foot-2 right-hander led the team from the mound in 2014 with 70.0 innings pitched. He made 14 appearances on the year with a team-leading 11 starts and recorded a team-high five victories. He produced an ERA of 3.86 and held opposing batters to a .251 batting average.

Walsh was named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week on April 28, 2014, after tossing a no-hitter through 5.2 innings against No. 12 Houston and keeping a clean sheet in a 3-0 upset victory for Cincinnati. He also earned a spot on the league’s honor roll on May 5.
